How We Work
Maleficarum MTL comes from hard working montreal witches that saw a gap in the artisan market for all things alternative, witchy, gothic and different.
We take applications for our events usually up 6 weeks before an announced date. The application forms are put in our instagram website, and in our facebook event. The locations we rent have limited spaces, making us have the hard selection or choosing. Depending on the events, we have between 20 and 40 vendors per edition. Our goal is to create 4-5 events a year.
We are looking to promote artists and artisans that make Alternative,
Goth, Witchy, Oddities, Vintage, Taxidermy and all things wicked and abnormal. We are also open to performers, Tarot readers and occultists, tattoo artists, make up artists, photographers and more.
Due to lots of demand, we now have forms for our vendors to fill.
All applications will be taken in account. We prioritize new brands as much as more established ones. We try to keep a balance in Category types, to not over saturate the events with 1 single product type. We do not prioritize past vendors, we try to balance everything, to offer new and known faces to the crowd.
The artisan selection is done by 4 people, all involved in the community.
Our events intend to share and create a safe gathering place for
artisans and artists of all race, gender, ability and size. We promote diversity, inclusion and self love.
We try to always have wheel chair accessible events, with gender neutral washrooms.
Tips for Applications :
Please send your best high quality pictures. The better your pictures,
the easier it will be for you to sell your art and entice the clients!
Have an online presence, ideally an instagram account and a Facebook page.
Have a website or a selling platform (etsy shop)
Please send us a complete description that gives enough details to draw
clients interest. Please add your pronouns with your name.

For Insurance Purposes, we can only take one application per designated space/table, which means that they can not be shared with other artists than the person who applied and was selected. All applicants must have any social media or website that makes it possible to reach the artist in the case of a dispute between the buyer and seller. Maleficarum MTL and Inchoo bijoux are not responsible for disputes between buyers and sellers.

Both Days include a space to put your things overnight so you don't have to bring everything home in between days. If they are in a Room space, they will be locked and secure, if they are in the hall, we will help you take it down partially to bring into a locked space for the night and bring it back out the next day when you arrive.
Our fees go directly and only to the rental of the space, our 3 staff members working on the days of the events, Marketing, Website, Mailing List and other Planning Fees.
Inchoo Bijoux does not profit from Maleficarum Market. These events are created for the community.

Tattoo stations include a massage table.
You are responsible of bringing your own tattoo material, safety containers and cleaning supplies. Please ask them for all details regarding set up spaces and applications. All applying artists must fit the current Maleficarum Theme or fit with the general aesthetic of the market.

Maleficarum MTL engages itself to make a fair selection of artists and
artisans for each event. To be a safe space for all types of creators.
To choose a space that is wheel chair accessible and has gender neutral washrooms.
Censorship & Art Content
Our events are meant for an Adult crowd, but we welcome families to attend. No children should be left unattended. We give freedom of expression to our artists and do not censure sexual and cannabis related topics. We do not tolerate Hate Art, racist, sexist, homophophic, ableism, Transphobic or any art that is cultural appropriative. If we come across any art that falls into these categories, you will be asked to leave the event immediately.
Handcrafted
We are an artisan and artist promoting event. We vow to select artists and artisans that craft their products, that are handmade. We do not select businesses that resell prefabricated good that have not been modified in any way, unless they are vintage & antiques.
Transactional Responsibility
Maleficarum MTL and Inchoo Bijoux are not responsible for transactions and communications between the clients and the vendors. We place ourselves as facilitators, to give clients and vendors a space to share their art but we are in no way responsible of prices, custom orders, transactions, miscommunications. We trust that the vendors and clients have a cooperative approach when finding solutions.
Shipping
For our virtual markets, Maleficarum MTL, Inchoo Bijoux and our vendors are not responsible for shipping delays. Anything sent in the mail is not manages by us and becomes the responsibility of the chosen carrier. It is the clients responsibility to purchase a shipping option that suits their needs, including all tracking on orders.
Respect
Our first rule is respect. Any person disrespecting our vendors, or vendor disrespecting our clients will be held accountable and be asked to exit the venue. Authorities might be called depending on the
situation. We do not joke with this. Your safety and well being is important to us.
Email Collection
Inchoo Bijoux and Maleficarum MTL collect emails in physical events for our giveaways and mailing lists. Our mailing lists are used simply to advertise our next events, vendor applications and to send thanks.
Photos
Maleficarum MTL and Inchoo Bijoux take pictures during the events to reuse for promotional and advertising purposes. We also feature them on our website with it’s associated event to have a “memory book” of past events. If you wish to not have pictures taken of you, or have us take pictures down, please let us know so we can respect your boundaries.
Brand Photos
Maleficarum Mtl & Inchoo Bijoux do not own the photography of the brands that are featured. We publish what was sent to us and/or that is available on the brands website or social media if needed.
Cancellation policy
If you choose to cancel your participation in our event, it is possible to do so and get a full refund 48h before the event. Please do not attempt to resell your booth, we have a waitlist of amazing artists that would be excited to take your spot. If you choose to not show up the day of the event, it is your responsibility to let us know as soon as possible. Cancellations the day of the event will not be refunded.
Wait-list
We try to vary our markets as much as possible to offer different faces to the crowd each event. If you were not selected for this edition, please continue applying! It is possible that your category was
saturated for this selection, but we alternate our vendors as much as possible. We receive over 100 applications per event, in which we can choose a maximum of 40 people with our current venue. We have the intention to grow into a bigger venue over the next months. Applications received before the deadline are automatically added to our Wait-list!
Taxes
Maleficarum MTL & Inchoo Bijoux do not collect taxes for the vendors and their own sales. It is the vendor’s responsibility to collect taxes on their sales, if applicable. Maleficarum MTL & Inchoo Bijoux pay their own personal taxes, they cannot be held accountable for other businesses taxes.
Insurances

Nous ne tolérons pas l’art méchant, sexiste, raciste, capacitifs, homophobe, transphobe ou d’appropriation culturelle. Si nous tombons sur des créations qui sont dans ces catégories, vous serez demandé de quitter immédiatement.
Fait main
Nous sommes un événement d’artisanat et de créations. Nous nous engageons de choisir des gens qui fabriquent leurs produits. Nous ne choisissons pas d’entreprises qui revendent des produits préfabriqués qui n’ont pas été altérés, modifiés d’aucune façon. Exception pour les
items vintage et antiques.
Responsabilité des transactions
Maleficarum Mtl et Inchoo Bijoux ne sont pas responsable des transactions entre les vendeurs et les clients. Nous nous plaçons comme des facilitants, créant un espace de vente pour les clients et les vendeurs. Nous ne sommes pas responsables des prix, des commandes spéciales, des transactions et mauvaises communications. Nous faisons confiance que nos vendeurs et clients seront coopératifs and leur approche pour les résolutions de problèmes.
Shipping
Pour nos marchés Virtuels, Maleficarum Mtl, Inchoo Bijoux et nos vendeurs ne sont pas responsable des délais de shipping. Tout produit envoyé dans la poste n’est pas géré par nous et deviennent la
responsabilité du courtier choisit. C’est la responsabilité du client d’acheter les options de shipping qui conviennent a leurs besoins, ceci inclus le tracking sur les commandes.
Collection des emails
Maleficarum Mtl et Inchoo Bijoux collectent les emails des clients dans les marchés en personne pour les tirages de paniers cadeaux et pour notre mailing list. Notre mailing list sert simplement pour vous aviser de notre prochain événement, de la période d’application pour le prochain événement et pour envoyer des remerciements.
Photos
Maleficarum Mtl et Inchoo Bijoux prenons des photos pendant les événements pour une utilisation de promotion et de publicité. Nous les partageons sur notre site web et réseaux sociaux. Sur notre site ils sont associé à leur événement et servent de livre souvenir de chaque édition. Si vous ne désirez pas être dans nos photos, sentez-vous à l’aise de nous aviser. Nous pouvons également enlever une photo publiée. Nous voulons vous respecter.
Photos de marque
Maleficarum Mtl & Inhoo Bijoux ne sont pas propriétaires des photographies des marques présentées. Nous publions ce qui nous a été envoyé et/ou qui est disponible sur le site de la marque ou sur les réseaux sociaux si besoin.
Politique de cancellation
Si vous choisissez de canceller votre présence en tant que vendeur dans nos événements, il est possible de le faire jusqu’à 48h avant l’événement. S’il vous plait, ne tentez pas de revendre votre booth,
nous avons une liste d’attente qui serait très excitée de prendre votre place. Si vous choisissez de ne pas vous présenter le matin même de l’événement, c’est votre responsabilité de nous aviser le plus tôt possible. Les cancellations le jour même de l’événement ne seront pas remboursées.
Liste d’attente
nous essayons de varier les marché le plus possible pour avoir des nouveaux visages dans chaque foule. Si vous n’avez pas été choisis pour cette édition, continuez d’appliquer ! Il est possible que votre catégorie de produits était saturé pour cette édition, mais nous alternons les vendeurs le plus possible. Nous recevons plus de 100 applications pas événement et pour le moment, nous ne pouvons avoir plus de 40 artisans par événement. Nous avons l’intention de grandir et de changer d’emplacement dans les prochaines éditions. Les applications reçues avant la fin de l’application sont automatiquement ajoutées a notre liste d’attente.
Taxes
Maleficarum Mtl et Inchoo Bijoux ne collectent pas les taxes des vendeurs et de leurs ventes. C’est la responsabilité des artistes et artisans de collecter leur propres taxes, lorsqu’applicables. Maleficarum Mtl et Inchoo Bijoux payent leur propre taxe et ne peuvent être tenues responsables des taxes de d’autres entreprises.
Assurances
Nos assurances demandent qu'une seule application par espace/ table, ce qui veut dire que celui ci ne peut etre partagé avec d'autres artistes que la personne selectionné. Tout les artistes choisis doivent avoir un site web ou des réseaux sociaux permettant aux clients de vous joindre en cas de disputes. Maleficarum Mtl et Inchoo Bijoux ne sont pas responsables pour des disputes entre vendeurs et acheteurs.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do i apply to the Market ?
Applications usually open for upto a year in advance. All open applications should show up above this section. Choose the event that suits you and click on the link to fill out the form. Yes you must submit 1 form per event and yes you will need to send the email with your photos for each application. Make sure to make the email subject : Your Brand - The event name you are applying for.
Is the market curated or is it first come first serve ?
Our events are curated to make sure there is an equal balance of types of products to make sure a certain type (ex jewelry) isn't over saturated. We also make sure to balance between more established brands and newer ones to give everyone and equal chance. Our market is small and cozy, so there is a big competition for the spaces. Our selection is made by a group of 4 people that change every edition to make sure there are no favourites.
When will i know when i'm selected ?
We usually send all emails upto 3 days after the cut off date of application to make sure we have enough time to advertise and you have enough time to create for the event.
What kind of vendors are you looking for ?
We are looking for all types of artists and crafters that create in the alternative, witchy and gothic style. We chose this niche and wish to stick with it. We have 5 different editions every year to also showcase different aspects of these themes ( ex witches & vamps, pastel goth, etc). We do keep a behavioural list of vendors and we do not repeat business with vendors who have been rude, unprofessional, late/ no show or have created conflicts between other vendors. We are loving, caring and we expect everyone to come with a peaceful and loving attitude as well.

Can i share my table with another vendor?
Absolutly NOT. Our event and selections are curated, we always have a long waitlist of vendors that would be happy to take someones place. All people in the waitlist have priority as they have applied in time, filled the form and followed our protocols. We also need to submit the list of product types to our insurance and any change would cause us unnecessary stress and additional management.
Are food and drink vendors allowed?
Yes, we usually try to select either a food or drink vendor per edition if space permits.
Can i apply as a new "brand" even if i don't have a business number yet?
Yes absolutely, however you choose to manage your accounting is yours to manage. For insurance and customer service reasons we do require that every artist have a website or etsy page so clients can reach you in case of a dispute/ refund.
Are the fees refundable if i cancel?
We refund all tables upto 48h before an event. In the 48h before the event period, we consider it as void.
Is there a fee for electricity, wifi or specific booth spaces?
We have no additional fees. All tables have access to electricity and since our event is small, don't worry, where ever your table is, it will be crowded with people! Wifi is also included although sometimes it doesnt reach everywhere in the hall. We do our best to assure maximum coverage.
Do you charge commission on sales?
No, every penny made is yours. We do take commissions on sales in the Goth Shop when articles are placed in consignment or wholesale to us.
What does set up and take down look like? Is there an unloading dock?
You are allowed on premise as early as 9am the day of the event. and you can take your time for the take down, there is no rush.
There is a loading dock in the back with industrial carts and elevators, you can borrow the carts as long as your bring them back down IMMEDIATELY after unloading ( before setting up your table). The loading dock is accessible via the back, where you can enter with your vehicule or by foot. The parking ticket allows you to park for upto an hour for free, so you can take the time to unload and park the car elsewhere if you do not want to pay for parking (i think its about 5-10$ per day).
Where do vendors park?
In between the buildings, there is access to park in the back. I think it's about 5-10$ for the day on weekends. There also street parking in the front.
Is there Overnight security to leave my set up for both days?
Usually, we place vendors that are present for 2 days in a space where the door locks at the end of the day. We can also bring in your table into the Goth shop for the evening. It is also possible to undo your table, lock your belonging in the Goth Shop and set up again the next morning. We have options.
Is the event indoors or outdoors
We have had too many bad experiences selling in events outside in the past and have chosen to keep all our events under a roof for everyones sanity.
Can i make my own promo graphics using the logo of Maleficarum
Yes absoluty, if you need the PNG, please feel free to ask! We do also create plenty of graphic design each edition, so you are more then welcome to use those!
Will the Market promote my brand on social media?
Absolutly, you are also welcome to mark as contributor to your posts so they show up on both feeds. Each event includes a post on our Instagram page, a page on our website, a post in the facebook event and more! You can tag us in all posts and stories and we will make sure to reshare them!
Is there a photographer or videographer ?
We try to have someone each event to take photos of everyone's stands and some beautiful moments in the market. Sometimes we do, sometimes we don't. If we do, the photographer will be in the facebook group and will make a post to ask about everyone's comfort levels and boundaries. You are not obligated to be in any photo.
Do you provide change on site?
Yes we can! our boutique is always stocked with change! Please come prepared, but if you are stranded we can help!
Is there a dress code or obligatory aesthetic to follow ?
There is no dress code, you can be as comfortable, cozy or sexy as you wish. We do ask for genitals to be covered as sometimes clients attend with younger folks. Our markets are always advertised as sexy friendly, so parents should have done the due-diligence to have conversations about nudity whether the nudity is there or in the art. We do not censure genitals or nipples of any kind in anyones art (but might have to ask for some censured versions to post on social media)
Why is obligatory to have a website/ etsy page ?
For insurance and consumer protection reasons, every vendor participating in our events must have a public online presence — such as a website, Etsy page, or similar storefront — that clearly includes contact information or a contact form.
This requirement ensures that:
- ✅ There is a verifiable point of contact in case of a dispute, complaint, or follow-up between a buyer and a vendor.
- ✅ Vendors are transparent and traceable, which protects both us as an event organizer and our event’s reputation.
- ✅ Buyers have access to important sales, returns, and exchange policies, which are legally required for most forms of retail sales (online or in-person).
In short, having a website or Etsy page isn’t just about visibility — it’s a compliance and accountability measure that protects everyone involved: the vendor, the client, and our event itself.
It doesn't need to be a complex website with various articles to sell. We understand that the nature of some creations are unique and the time and upkeep of showcasing them online takes energy and maintenance. But we do need to see a way to contact the vendor that leads to an email and is not a social media page.
Do you still accept Flash Tattoos for your events ?
With recent space changes, we no longer have space in the event itself for Flash Tattoos BUT our space across the hall transformed into Eternia Tattoos, a tattoo studio operated by Angus Byers. They are open to receiving applications for artists that want to rent a space during maleficarum events. Make sure your application show cases flashes that fit the theme or fit with the general aesthetic of Maleficarum.
